Records / Accident Reports

Completed and approved police reports are generally available within 3-5 days following the initial filing of the report, and may be provided to you in one of three ways:

IN PERSON

  • Completed and approved reports may be obtained in person at the Brimfield Police Department between 8:00am-4:00pm Monday through Friday, (holidays excluded). 

BY MAIL

  • Completed and approved reports may be mailed out to you, provided you send a stamped, self-addressed envelope and appropriate payment in advance to:

ONLINE / E-MAIL

  • Accident Report
    • Completed and approved accident reports are accessible to you online through the Ohio Department of Public Safety. Query the ODPS accident report database to locate and download your accident report.
  • Incident Report
    • Completed and approved incident reports may be emailed in PDF format. Email your report request to Records with specifics to aid us in locating the correct report (date of incident, time, location, nature of report, and report number if known).

RESTRICTIONS

Ohio Revised Code §149.43(A)(1) and federal law identify records which are exempt from being public records under law, and therefore are protected from being subject to public record requests. The following are some examples of information that is restricted: 

  • Confidential law enforcement investigatory records
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver's license numbers
  • Victim information
  • Identity of a suspect who has not been charged
  • Medical records
  • Restricted portions of video as outlined within ORC §149.43
  • Persons reporting child abuse
