Flock Safety Technology
BPD is proud to use the latest technology to detect and deter criminal activity. Flock Safety Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) will be placed along SR#43 and Tallmadge Rd. to capture the "fingerprint" of vehicles. A vehicle fingerprint includes the license plate, make, model, color, and number of times the vehicle has been seen.

Alerts are sent to officers in “real time” for cars entered in connection with crimes, stolen vehicles, wanted persons, and Amber/Silver Alerts for missing persons. Approximately 70% of all crimes involve a vehicle, and Investigators can use the data (stored for 30 days) to identify cars used in crimes. All license plates are public information.
